Four projects currently underway at Ullersmo high security prison, including the artists Kristine Utne Stiberg, True Solvang Vevatne, Lise Bjørne Linnert and Pieterjan Ginckels. All the artists work in a participatory manner, creating artworks in collaboration with prisoners. The artworks will be completed in autumn 2026.
A participatory approach has been a stated curatorial strategy of the curators Slekke Wørld and Helen Eriksen, who have extensive previous experience of this type of artistic practice. When people are allowed to participate actively in the means of production – ideas, decisions, materials, form and presentation – the resulting artwork becomes a monument to community, collaboration and the influence of individuals.
